ATMP Sweden functions as a nationwide network dedicated to expediting patient access to safe and effective medications derived from recombinant genes, live cells, and/or tissue engineering. These innovative therapies fall under the category of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) as defined by the European Medicines Agency.

The establishment of the ATMP Sweden network originated from the communication efforts within the Swelife-ATMP project, which received funding from Vinnova. Initially, the Centre for Advanced Medicinal Products (CAMP) was the sole national ATMP initiative. Collaboratively, both initiatives developed the initial website atmpsweden.se and organized the national annual conference ”ATMP Sweden”.

Currently, ATMP Sweden is supported by the ”National Coordination” project under the Vinnova-funded ATMP2030 Innovation Milieu. This support facilitated the inception of the ATMP World Tour and the establishment of the non-profit organization ATMP Sweden in 2023.
