Joanna is a partner and European Patent Attorney at AWA. She has over 13 years of experience of as an intellectual property advisor and works in close collaboration with clients and inventors. Her focus areas are biological and small molecule pharmaceuticals and formulation thereof, protein engineering, antibodies, immunology, vaccine development, cell and gene therapy (ATMPs), stem cells, and neurobiology.

Joanna is an experienced lecturer and provides expert patent analysis and commentary to leading industry publications on topics such as Crispr-Cas9 technology, patenting of ATMPs and due diligence analysis.

She has an M.Sc. in Engineering Biology and received her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the Karolinska Institute. Joanna has a profound understanding of developmental biology and neurobiology, including stem cells and cell differentiation from more than a decade of research experience.

Edit supports clients mainly in the areas of biological and small-molecule pharmaceuticals and formulations, antibodies and protein engineering, vaccine development, cell and gene therapy (ATMPs), diagnostics as well as omics technologies.

She has ten years of research experience in neuroscience, proteomics and protein science, biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology and biotech. She obtained her PhD in Neuroscience at the Medical University of Vienna in 2018 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Karolinska Institute before joining AWA in 2021.

Joanna and Edit expect to be on-site at Innovation Station Flemingsberg on Thursdays every two weeks starting 12 September 2024 and on additional occasions.
