Cell therapy and allogeneic stem cell transplantation

 

CAST is Sweden’s only specialized department for allogeneic stem cell transplantation and the hospital in the country performing the most transplants. They treat patients with hematologic malignancies, anemia and immunodeficiency disorders, as well as metabolic diseases. Advanced cell therapy is also conducted within the area, including CAR-T treatment, for various forms of cancer such as malignant melanoma, lymphoma, and leukemia. 

They are at the forefront internationally in both patient care and research and have been involved in developing the treatment form of stem cell transplantation to what it is today over the past four decades. They are accredited according to the international quality standard JACIE.

Medical Unit of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine

 

Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine are part of Medical Diagnostics Karolinska. The medical unit operates at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge and Solna. The medical unit also operates at Danderyd Hospital, Södersjukhuset, Norrtälje Hospital, and Södertälje Hospital. Blood donation takes place at the Blood Centers Odenplan, Sergel, and Skanstull, as well as at the mobile blood units.

The medical unit encompasses laboratory medical services, specialist expertise, as well as active research, development, and education within:

  • Allergy, autoimmunity, and inflammation
